LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a successful weekend at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic and the Doc Hale Elite Meet, Kentucky travels to Clemson, South Carolina to compete against some of the NCAA’s best teams in the Tiger Paw Invitational on Friday and Saturday while the distance runners will compete at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa on Friday.

Last week in New Mexico, freshman Langston Jackson set a new school record in the men’s 200-meter final with a time of 20.58 (adjusted to 20.65 for altitude), which is good for No. 2 in the NCAA this season. Jackson then won the men’s 60m final with a time of 6.58 (adj. 6.60), which places him at No. 2 in school history and No. 5 in the NCAA this season. These results were good enough to earn Jackson USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week and Southeastern Conference Men’s Runner of the Week.

Additionally, the women’s 4x400m relay team of Megan Moss, Abby Steiner, Chloe Abbott and Alexis Holmes won the event with the No. 1 time in the NCAA this season of 3:30.64, which is good for No. 2 in school history.

In Virginia, Matthew Peare set a school record in the pole vault with a mark of 17-9.25 (5.42m). Overall, the Wildcats won eight events in Blacksburg and three events in Albuquerque.

Following this weekend, UK will prepare for the SEC Championships in College Station, Texas on Feb. 28-29.

Tiger Paw Invitational
There are eight top-25 men’s teams and eight top-25 women’s competing on Friday and Saturday at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina.

This includes Kentucky’s men’s (No. 13) and women’s (No. 7) teams as well as the No. 1 men’s (Florida State) and women’s (Southern California) teams in the NCAA.

The stiff competition is expected to give the Wildcats a glimpse into both the SEC and NCAA Championships.
