by Cami Moore

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Topping the field in seven of her eight events this season, sophomore Kyndal Knight has been named the Southeastern Conference Diver of the Week after sweeping the springboard events in last week’s quad meet against No. 7 NC State, No. 9 Missouri and Arkansas.

Knight has competed in eight events total this season – four 1-meter, four 3-meter – facing opponents from eight teams across four meets. She has topped the field in seven of her eight appearances on the springboard this season, going unbeaten on the 3-meter board (four wins).

Knight has reset her career high on the 3-meter board not once, but twice this season, boasting a 343.95 as her top score. It ranks seventh on UK’s top-10 all-time performances list, the lone current Wildcat featured.

Last week, Knight defeated a 13-person field on 3-meter with a score of 325.75 points, her third-best mark of the season. She also defeated a 14-person field on 1-meter with a score of 284.30, her second-best mark of the season on the discipline.

The undergraduate from Stanley, North Carolina, has led the nation for most of the season in 3-meter optional average scoring on 56.30 points. She is currently third on that list with a 55.7 average through four meets.

Last season, Knight was named the SEC Co-Female Freshman Diver of the Year, selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team and became an NCAA All-American honoree on 3-meter.
