UK Men’s Soccer Seeks First C-USA Road Win at Old Dominion

by Connor Link

NORFOLK, Va. – Coming off an electrifying 2-1 comeback victory in the final 10 minutes versus Ohio State last Wednesday, No. 20 Kentucky (7-2-3, 1-1-1 Conference USA) is set to take on Old Dominion (3-7-1, 1-2-1 C-USA) on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.

Having tied No. 12 Charlotte 1-1 on Sept. 15 in its only other opportunity, Kentucky enters Saturday seeking its first road victory in league play.

With his team facing a 1-0 deficit on the scoreboard last Wednesday, UK sophomore Robert Screen scored the first goal of his career off a free kick in the 81st minute. 2019 C-USA Preseason Co-Offensive Player of the Year Kalil ElMedkhar put away the Buckeyes for good with a finish off a cross from Eythor Bjorgolfsson in the 85th.

Old Dominion welcomes the Wildcats just south of the Chesapeake Bay after emerging with a 1-0 win at in-state foe William & Mary on Oct. 12. In two tries versus UAB and Marshall, the Monarchs have yet to earn a conference victory on their home field.

Since ODU joined C-USA in 2013, Kentucky owns a 4-1-2 lead in the all-time head-to-head series, with the first four meetings resulting in overtime. The Cats defeated Old Dominion 3-0 in Lexington last season.
