BBM Campout Coverage: Keeping up with Tent City

by Guy Ramsey

It’s time for the annual tradition that might be the most “Only at Kentucky” one of them all: the campout for Big Blue Madness tickets. Stay tuned for updates from Tent City throughout the week.

7 a.m. Wednesday

The sun is only just peeking above the horizon, but members of the Big Blue Nation seeking tickets to Big Blue Madness have been up for hours. The annual campout has begun.

Lines officially opened at 5 a.m. and tents popped up surrounding Memorial Coliseum and the Joe Craft Center immediately. Some campers are still putting the finishing touches on their setups, so we’ll have our first official count later this morning.

11 a.m Wednesday

It’s quiet around Tent City late Wednesday morning, with campers understandably sleepy after an early morning. With limited space still available, the tent count has reached approximately 300.

9 a.m. Thursday

With the tent count reaching 318 on Thursday morning, capacity at the Big Blue Madness campout has been reached. As a result, no new campers will be able to set up and no control cards for free tickets to the annual event will be issued to those not already camped out. Fans are encouraged to go online at Ticketmaster.com or use the Ticketmaster app to acquire tickets to the first open practice opportunity for UK’s 2019-20 men’s and women’s basketball teams.
