Will Shaner to Represent Team USA at World University Games
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following a freshman campaign in which he was named Great American Rifle Conference Rookie of the Year, Will Shaner will spend part of his summer in Naples, Italy representing the United States Team.
“It’s exciting to have Will compete on this stage,” head coach Harry Mullins said. “Will had a great year and we’re excited for what’s to come. It’s a testament to his hard work and talent to have earned this honor to represent Team USA abroad and we’re looking forward to see how he does.”
The 2019 World University Games rune July 2-14 with the shooting sports scheduled to be contested July 4-9.
Each shooter will shoot both guns in the air gun 60 shot match and the 3×40. Shaner will go on to shoot alongside Georgia Southern’s Rosemary Kramer in the mixed doubles on July 9 based.
Shaner was First Team All-America and All-Conference in air rifle, smallbore and combined as a freshman in 2018-19.
The Summer World University Games are an international university and cultural event held every two years in a different city. Drawing thousands of student-athletes, the Games are one of the largest multi-sport events in the world.
