Facusse, Reyes Called up for Olympic National Team Summer Camps

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s soccer goalkeeper Enrique Facusse and forward Jason Reyes have been called into their nations’ respective Olympic qualifying national teams’ summer camps.

Facusse will join the Honduras under-23s, and Reyes will go to the Costa Rica U23 camp.

Facusse was named a second team All-American in 2018. The UK goalkeeper was named All-Region for the second year in a row, as well as First Team All-Conference USA. His .49 goals against average ranked fourth nationally, and his .84 save percentage ranked 12th in Division I and he led the nation in shutouts (14).

Reyes was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year in 2018. Reyes was selected Second Team All-C-USA, the highest placement of a freshman that season. He scored eight goals in his debut UK campaign. Against a top-five Indiana squad, he tallied one goal and one assist and scored and assisted in the de facto league regular-season title game in November. He also scored in the Sweet 16 win against Lipscomb.

Reyes has represented Costa Rica at the Under-15 and Under-19 National Teams

The 2019 CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship will take place in October. The competition will determine which men’s under-23 national teams from the North, Central American and Caribbean region qualify for the Olympic football tournament. The tournament will provide two teams for the 2020 Summer Olympics.[1]

Kentucky returns nine regular starters — including All-Americans Facusse and Aimé Mabika, in addition to All-Conference selections Kalil ElMedkharReyes and Leon Jones — from their record-setting 2018 season. Last fall, UK won the Conference USA double, set the school record for wins, reached the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, went 5-1 against top-25 opponents and welcomed multiple 3,000-plus crowds to The Bell to name but a few accomplishments.
