No. 23 Kentucky Visits No. 5 LSU For Series With First-Place Tigers
LEXINGTON, Ky. – After an offensive explosion against Northern Kentucky on Tuesday afternoon in Highland Heights in a 13-0 win over the Norse, the No. 23/24 Kentucky Wildcats will turn their attention to a top-10 opponent in No. 7/5 LSU over the weekend for a critical Southeastern Conference series in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at Tiger Park.
All three games of the SEC series will be shown live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the ESPN app beginning on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT. Saturday’s game will also be at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT with Sunday’s series finale coming at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT from the Bayou.
UK enters the weekend with a 25-15 overall record and 8-7 in SEC play, sitting in sixth place overall in the league. The Tigers are having one of their best seasons in program history with a 34-8 overall mark and sitting in first place in the SEC with an 11-4 record, while hitting the ball at a pace unseen in Tiger softball annals.
LSU leads the all-time series with Kentucky by a 37-14 margin. The Wildcats swept the last meeting between the two teams 2-0 in Lexington, with the third game not completed due to rain in the fourth inning. Kentucky has won the last three regular-season series vs. LSU (2015, 16, 18). The last time UK played LSU in Baton Rouge in 2016, the Wildcats swept the Tigers without allowing a run the entire series – the first time that had ever happened in program history for UK.
