No. 22 Kentucky Closes Four-Game Road Trip at EKU on Wednesday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Putting the caps on a four-game road swing, the No. 22 Kentucky Wildcats will make the short trip east to Richmond, Kentucky on Wednesday night for an in-state midweek contest with the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. The game will start at 6 p.m. ET from Gertrude Hood Field and be streamed live on ESPN+, ESPN3 and the ESPN app with the required account subscription.
The Wildcats are currently sitting nine games above the .500 mark with a 22-13 overall record, despite their recent troubles having lost six of the last seven. UK got a quality win on Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville, defeating No. 13 Arkansas 16-2 in the second game of the three-game series. The 16 runs scored was the most in program history for an SEC game, and also the most runs the Wildcats have score all season.
The pitching had a nice bounce-back weekend in the circle for UK, only allowing six runs all weekend to the Razorbacks. Grace Baalman was a tough-luck loser in both games the Wildcats lost, only surrendering one earned run in over 11 innings of work.
Kentucky leads the all-time series with the Colonels, 23-7. The two teams met twice last year playing a home-and-home. The Wildcats prevailed 10-0 in five innings in the Lexington game, and won 2-1 in a tightly-contested game on the return trip to Richmond the following week. Rachel Lawson is 11-0 all-time at UK against EKU.
UK will host Ole Miss over the weekend at John Cropp Stadium beginning Friday.
