Team Records and Series Notes

–    UK secured an 84-65 victory over Northern Kentucky, picking up its second road victory this season.
–    With the victory, Kentucky retains an unblemished 7-0 record to start the season.  
–    The meeting was the 16th between the two teams, moving UK to a 12-4 advantage in the series, including seven straight victories against the Norse.  
–    Matthew Mitchell is in his ninth season with Kentucky and the win moves him to 231-110 overall, including a 201-81 record while at Kentucky.
 

Team Notes

–    In both of UK’s road matchups this year, the Wildcats have trailed at the half (down by 12 points at Arizona State on Nov. 15), and battled back to pick up the victory. 
–    UK outscored NKU 42-16 in the paint, and outrebounded the Norse 37-26.
–    UK shot 55.2% from the field, marking the third time this season that the Wildcats have shot above a .500 clip.
–    UK started the game with a 9-0 run, holding NKU scoreless on three field goal attempts for 3:05.
–    The Wildcats led 24-17 at the end of the first period.  The Norse used five 3-pointers to account for all but two of their points.
–    Kentucky was held scoreless in the second period for 2:42, conceding a 7-0 run.  
–    For the second time this season, Kentucky trailed at the half.  The Norse held a 41-37 advantage going into the break.  NKU ended the second period on a 7-0 run.
–    Kentucky was able to take the lead, 52-45, thanks to a pair of free throws by Janee Thompson as part of a 11-0 run within the span of a minute at the 6:44 mark in the third period.  
–    UK outscored NKU 24-11 in the third period to take a 61-52 lead by the close of the third stanza.  
–    Despite sinking eight 3-pointers in the first half, NKU was held to 2-of-12 in the second half.  
–    The Wildcats had another dominant frame in the fourth period, outscoring the Norse 23-13.

Individual Notes

–    Janee Thompson had her second 20+ point game of the season, draining 21 points and dishing out a team-high seven assists.  
o   Thompson led the team in 3-pointers, hitting 3-of-4 attempts.
–    Makayla Epps chipped in 16 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists.
–    Evelyn Akhator scored 13 points, and also added five rebounds, three blocks and three steals to her stat line.
–    Taylor Murray added eight points and had a career-high seven rebounds all off defensive boards, along with three assists and three steals.
