?    UK picked up a 72-54 victory against in-state rival Louisville.

?    With the victory, Kentucky retains an unblemished 8-0 record to start the season.  

–  There have only been five other seasons (1980-81, 2005-06, 2009-10, 2011-12, 2013-14) when the Wildcats started with eight consecutive victories.

?    The meeting was the 52nd between the two teams, with UK now holding the 34-18 all-time advantage.

?    The Wildcats have won five consecutive games against the Cardinals.

?    Matthew Mitchell is in his ninth season with Kentucky and the win moves him to 232-110 overall, including a 202-81 record while at Kentucky.

?    UK played in front of a crowd of 14,425, the fifth-largest crowd the Wildcats have drawn inside Rupp Arena. 

 

?    Kentucky shot 51.8% from the field, marking the first time since Nov. 21/27, 2013 that the Wildcats have shot above a .500 clip in consecutive games.

?    The 18-point victory was the largest margin against Louisville since Dec. 4, 2011, when the Wildcats had a 74-54 win at home.  

?    UK outscored UL in the paint, 30-18, and on second chance points, 10-5.  The Wildcats held a staunch advantage in rebounding, 36-27.

?    The Wildcats committed 18 turnovers compared to Louisville’s 14, which is the second time this season that UK has had more miscues than its opponent and won (Eastern Michigan, Nov. 25, 20-9)

?    Kentucky opened up with a 7-0 run within the two minutes, going a perfect 3-of-3 from the field.

?    UK led 17-11 at the end of the first period, shooting 46.7% while holding Louisville to 26.7% from the field.

?    Kentucky only allowed three field goals in the second period, outscoring the Cardinals 22-11.

?    The Wildcats shot 53.3% from the field in the first half, including 50% from beyond the arc.  They held the Cardinals to 28.0% from the floor, not conceding a 3-pointer on six attempts.  

?    Kentucky kept up its efficiency in the second half, shooting 50% from the floor, while Louisville upped its production to 43.3%.

 

?    Makayla Epps paced the Wildcats’ scoring with 24 points on 10-of-11 attempts, along with four rebounds, four assists and three steals.

o   Epps ties the third most efficient performance in school history, the highest percentage from the field with at least 10 attempts since 1987 when Sandy Harding went 10-of-11 for .909 against Alabama on Feb. 7.

o   The 24 points mark a season best for Epps.

?    Alexis Jennings scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds to go with two blocks.

?    Taylor Murray chipped in 11 points.

?    Janee Thompson had 10 points, including two 3-pointers, and three assists.

?    Evelyn Akhator led the team in rebounding, pacing all players with nine.

?    Alyssa Rice appeared in her first game of the season since sitting out the first seven games with a stress reaction in her right foot.
