LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky track and field teams will start the outdoor season in earnest this weekend at the Florida Relays Thursday-Saturday, and with a smaller contingent at the Raleigh Relays on Friday.

Indeed the Wildcats are two weekends into the season, and some of the competitors who qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships, namely Daniel Roberts and season-opening SEC Athlete of the Week Marie-Josee Ebwea-Bile at the Spring Break UCF Black and Gold Invitational.

But the Florida Relays have become Kentucky’s go-to meet for making preseason openers, and plenty of members from Kentucky’s NCAA Indoor third-place women’s team and 17th-place men’s team will make their debuts competing under the sun (or moon).

Heat sheets/start lists for the Florida Relays are not yet available as of 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday. The meet starts Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium Thursday at 2 p.m.

Eight men’s teams and eight women’s teams competing at the Florida Relays are ranked in the USTFCCCA preseason top 25. In all, 102 universities are entered in this year’s Florida Relays.

Jacob Thomson is the lone UK entry at the Raleigh Relays as he will run the 10k Friday at 9:25 p.m. A portion of the meet will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra, but the published windo concludes at 8:30 p.m.
