Shepard’s 5k PB Starts Vandy Black & Gold for UKTF
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Caitlin Shepard’s second-place 5,000-meter personal best was the top result for Kentucky on Friday at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational.
The sophomore quickened her PB 5k time by 27 seconds to 17:04.64.
Janie O’Connor took third place in the women’s 200m with a time of 24.54.
Kennedy Krieg earned a top-five place in the women’s hammer throw.
Alex Mortimer placed 25th and Tanner Dowdy was 27th in the men’s 1,500m.
UK will have nine more entries on Saturday.
Krieg is scheduled to compete in the discus and javelin.
O’Connor and Jasmine Mitchell are slated to run the 400m, Brooke Nohilly will run the 800m, and Will Walker will make his 2018 400m hurdles debut.
Alison D’Alessandro, Riley Caudill and Nicole Bagby will compete in the pole vault.
