Wildcats Welcome Ohio State, Toledo for Two-Day Tri Meet

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky swimming and diving is set to kick off its 2018 slate this weekend, welcoming Big Ten foe Ohio State and Toledo to Lancaster Aquatic Center for a two-day meet, Jan. 5-6. Friday’s action will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET, while Saturday’s events will commence at 9 a.m.

“We’re excited to get back racing after a six-week break as we really continue to fine tune before the SEC meet,” said head coach Lars Jorgensen. “This weekend’s two-day format is very conducive for us to be able to get as much racing in as we can coming off Christmas training and will help us prepare for the end of the season.”

The Wildcats have not seen action since November, when they traveled to Columbus, Ohio, for the Ohio State Invitational. The No. 15 Kentucky women’s team had an excellent showing at the meet, finishing first overall ahead of three ranked teams. Sophomore Asia Seidt led the way for Kentucky in the meet, posting two school records, two individual NCAA automatic qualifying times and one meet record.

Both Buckeye teams enter the meet inside the CSCAA Top 25, as the women’s team is ranked No. 13, and the men’s squad is No. 18 in the nation. The competition is also the first for OSU since hosting its invitational.

Toledo’s women’s only squad enters this weekend’s meet with a 3-3 record in dual meets this season. The Rockets are coming off a loss to Florida Gulf Coast on Dec. 21.
