UK & Xavier Set for Ranked Showdown Wednesday at The Bell

LEXINGTON, Ky. – A pair of 5-1-1 men’s soccer teams will put their records on the line against one another at The Bell on Wednesday.

No. 15/21a Kentucky will host RV/No. 23 Xavier with first touch slated for 7:35 p.m.

The match will be streamed live via ESPN3 platforms.

The setup
As aforementioned, both teams boast 2017 records of won 5, lost 1, drew 1.

Kentucky is coming off a 1-0 win from the always-challenging in-conference trip to New Mexico. UK lost its last match at The Bell, 1-0 to Cincinnati last Tuesday. That was UK’s only loss of the season.

Xavier is unbeaten in its last six matches – a run that includes wins over then-No. 22 Boston College. Xavier also beat then-No. 9 Georgetown in Cincinnati at the weekend in their Big East opener.

Kentucky drew Louisville 2-2 in it’s only match against a then-ranked team this season.
 
The history
Kentucky leads the all-time series 7-5 against Xavier.

UK won the last meeting between the sides – 1-0 in overtime in Sept. 2014 at The Bell.

UK is 3-4 against XU at home all-time.
 
The logistics
Gates will open at 6:35 p.m – an hour before the scheduled first touch.
 
Tickets are $5 for the general public and $2 for youth and seniors. Fans can purchase tickets online via Ticketmaster or by calling (800) 928-2287, or at the ticket window at The Bell.
 
Early arriving fans will receive the fourth edition in a nine-match series of individual match posters.
 
Students can take advantage of a free shuttle picking up at two campus locations — The 90 and the Wildcat Statue on Avenue of Champions across from Memorial Coliseum/adjacent to Bowman’s Den.
 
Parking for the match is first come first served located outside the stadium’s main entrance and in the Kroger Field blue and green lots with continuous shuttle service running from car parks up to the front gates of The Bell beginning at 6:35 p.m.
 
The shuttle will continue until one hour after the match.
 
UK players will sign autographs on the side of the pitch following the match weather permitting.
 
Kentucky Athletics is excited to utilize ticket scanning at The Bell this season. Season ticket holders receive individual game barcoded tickets to be scanned on game day.
 
Season tickets are still available for $30 through UKAthletics.com/tickets and grant holders admission into all UK men’s and women’s soccer regular-season games.
