Wallart Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After playing a critical role in No. 12 Kentucky’s wins over Arkansas and Ole Miss last week, Enzo Wallart has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week by the league office.
The recognition marks Wallart’s first career SEC honor.
“Enzo has played really great the last two weeks,” fifth-season head coach Cedric Kauffman said. “He is training better and his effort and consistency are really showing in the matches. Last weekend he was as tough as any player in the country. We look for him to continue his progress. We are really proud of him.”
Wallart played a key role in the two victories over No. 27 Arkansas and No. 26 Ole Miss last weekend with match-altering singles results. Wallart played on the fourth court in singles, first notching a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win over Arkansas’ Giammarco Micolani to tie the match 2-2 for UK. On Sunday, Wallart played a nearly flawless match, dropping just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Ole Miss’ Fabian Fallert to give the Cats a 2-1 team lead.
The freshman from Windermere, Fla., has strung together a solid first-year campaign, with a 6-3 singles record this season while going 2-0 in conference play this season. Wallart also boasts a 4-0 record on the fourth court.
Wallart and Kentucky will spring back into action again this weekend with another pair of SEC matches, this time on the road. The Cats will take to Starkville, Miss., to face Mississippi State on Friday, Mar. 11 before heading to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to play the Crimson Tide on Sunday, Mar. 13 at 2 p.m.
