ATLANTA – Make your way into the Georgia Dome in Atlanta and you might be bit confused.Outside of the newly painted red seats in the lower bowl of the Georgia Dome, blue is the dominating color around the court at the site of this year’s Southeastern Conference Tournament. But how can that be? Didn’t the Kentucky men’s basketball team receive a first-round bye in the tournament?The Cats were indeed off Thursday – the Cats play Friday at 3:30 p.m. – but it hardly matters for Big Blue fans. They love basketball and they love owning the title of the most passionate fans in college basketball.With a first session attendance of 12,144 fans, Kentucky easily outnumbered everyone. This writer (to clarify, me) is terrible when it comes to estimations, but Tennessee radio personality and writer Wes Rucker hit the nail on the head in a tweet he sent out to fans.In rating the fan bases in the afternoon of day one at the SEC Tournament, Rucker wrote: “Biggest fan bases at the SEC tournament first day: 1)Kentucky 2)Kentucky 3)Tennessee 4)Kentucky 5)Other kids’ parents.”Cat-lanta? You bet it is.
