Jasmine Quinn Named SEC Runner of the Week
LEXINGTON,
Ky. – Kentucky track and field’s Jasmine Quinn was named the first Southeastern
Conference Runner of the Week of the 2016 outdoor season, the
league office announced on Tuesday.
The freshman made her outdoor-season debut with a nation-leading 100-meter hurdles time of 13.01, into a
light headwind to win at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.
Her
time is the UK freshman record, and ranks tied for No. 2 in school history
all-time, only behind last year’s NCAA Champion Kendra Harrison who broke 13
seconds numerous times during her junior and senior seasons.
She
helped the Kentucky women’s team win the Castillo Invitational 134.5-117.5 over
Texas A&M.
She was named SEC Runner of the Week for the first time. She was selected to
the SEC All-Freshman Team during the indoor season.
