LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team travels to Greensboro,N.C.,this weekend to take on UNC Greensboro and Appalachian State in theGreensboro Soccer Classic.
The Wildcats are set to take on UNC Greensboro (2-0-1) Friday at 7p.m. atthe UNCG Soccer Stadium. The Cats will be looking for their first win ofthe season against the powerful Spartans, who blasted Rider 5-1 on Sunday.
UK’s early-season schedule has been a bear, with the Cats facingnationalpowers Cal State Fullerton and San Diego, along with regional rivalCincinnati. The Cats have fallen to 0-3-0, and now face the 20th-rankedSpartans.
“We knew the schedule would be a tough one this year, especiallythe firstpart,” Coach Ian Collins said. “But I think this stretch will strengthenour team and get us ready for our conference schedule.”
On Sunday the Cats will hit the field again, facing AppalachianState toclose out the Classic. The Mountaineers have started the season strong,rolling up four victories in their first four games. Kickoff is set for 1p.m.
