LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky senior defensive tackle Mark Jacobs has accepted aninvitation to play in the inaugural All-Star Gridiron Classic, which willbe played on Sat. Jan. 16 in Orlando, Fla.

The Gridiron Classic is being hosted by the Citrus Bowl and will pit “TeamFlorida” against “Team USA.” Jacobs, who is from Shalimar, Fla., will playfor Team Florida. He will be a teammate of UK offensive tackle KrisComstock, who hails from Apopka, Fla. The game will be televised by ESPN2and is slated for a 1 p.m. EST kickoff.

Jacobs is a four-year letterman and three-year starter for the Wildcats.As a senior, Jacobs made 30 tackles. He had career highs with four tacklesfor loss on running plays and five quarterback sacks, including two sackseach in UK’s wins against South Carolina and Louisiana State.

Jacobs made one of the biggest plays of the year in the Mississippi Stategame. With 3:31 to go, and UK ahead 37-35, he stopped MSU quarterbackWayne Madkin on a two-point conversion run that would have tied the game.The victory over MSU gave Kentucky its sixth win for bowl eligibility.

Jacobs has completed his bachelor’s degree in social work.
