LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will travel to Baton Rouge, La., on Thursday, Jan. 14 for a conference matchup with Louisiana State University at 8 p.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Wildcats (11-4, 2-2) look to bounce back after a three-point loss (60-57) to Ole Miss on Sunday in Oxford. The Lady Tigers (11-3, 3-1) dropped their first Southeastern Conference game to fourth-ranked Georgia on Sunday (73-60) after defeating South Carolina, Mississippi State and Arkansas earlier in conference play.
UK won last year’s meeting with the Lady Tigers in overtime, 74-71, at the Crown in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Cats haven’t won in Baton Rouge since 1994-95, winning 63-49 in their last regular season game of the season. LSU holds a 11-6 overall record versus the Cats. After charting a game-high 19 points versus Ole Miss on Sunday, junior Tiffany Wait leads Kentucky in scoring for the first time all season. She averages 13.1 points per game while senior Jaye Barnes and sophomore Laura Meadows follow with 12.7 and 12.2 ppg, respectively. After Thursday’s game, the Cats will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., on Sunday, Jan. 17 to face the top-ranked Lady Vols. UK will then face the Lady Cardinals in Louisville on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
