LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky Lady Kats qualified for the 1998 Women’s Golf East Regionals scheduled for May 7-9 at the Duke Golf Club in Durham, N.C.

Along with the Lady Kats, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Furman, Georgia, Louisiana State, Memphis, Miami (Fla.), Ole Miss, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Wake Forest, as well as host Duke will compete for the Regional crown. A team finishing in the top eight advances to the NCAA Championships, May 20-23, at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wisc.

This is the fifth consecutive NCAA appearance for head coach Bettie Lou Evans’ program. Last season, the Lady Kats finished 18th when Heather Kraus led UK with a three-round total of 241.

Kraus will join fellow Lady Kats Jenny Dugan, Katy Loy, Julie Palmer and Jenny Throgmorton in attempting to reach the championships for the first time since 1992 and the sixth time overall.
