CHARLESTON, S.C. – The University of Kentucky Baseball team (0-4) dropped itsfourth game of the season on Friday, Feb. 19, to The Citadel (1-3) by ascore of 4-1. Sophomore Beau Moore extended his hot-hitting streak to threegames, going 2-for-4 with a single and double. Bulldog pitcher Brian Wileystruck out eight batters in six innings for his first win of the season.
The Citadel got on the boards in the fourth. Aaron Haiger and PhilipHartig scored on a bases loaded sacrifice fly and an error by rightfielderBeau Moore. The Citadel’s Michael Harris added another run on a sacrificefly RBI. The Bulldogs added another run in the fifth to take the lead 4-0.
UK got their only run of the game in the sixth inning. Beau Moore led offwith a single, followed by a stolen base. He later advanced to third asJohn Wilson flew out to center. Breck Price reached first on an error bythe Bulldog’s third baseman that scored Moore from third.
Kentucky continues play in the Franklin-Life Shootout on Saturday, Feb.20, when they face Old Dominion (1-0) at 10 a.m. This will be the firstmeeting between the two schools.
