GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team fired a final round 321 to finish last in this weekend’s Florida Gator Invitational. The Cats struggled in the three-round tournament, finishing with a team total of 919, 78 strokes behind host and tournament champions Florida at 831.
Jeremy Langley led the UK squad, but fired a final-round 78 to drop into a tie for 34th. Florida’s Steve Scott won the individual competition, shooting a seven-under-par 203 for three rounds. Other UK finishers were Ron Layman in 66th with a 230, John Beckett in 73rd with a 233 and Ryan Rieckhoff in 75th with a 235.
The Cats return to the links March 5-6, when they travel to Lakeland, Fla., for the Matlock Collegiate Classic.
