BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team won itssecond Mid-American Conference match of the weekend on Sunday, edgingBowling Green 1-0.

UK defender Todd Stonestreet chipped a 30-yard shot over the BG keeper inthe 66th minute for the game’s lone goal as UK upped its MAC record to 2-0on the year.

Kentucky keeper Brian O’Leary needed only one save to post the shutout,his second of the weekend and fourth of the season.

The win was especially sweet for the Cats, who have been eliminated frompost-season play by the Falcons four consecutive seasons.

“Our guys really wanted this win,” UK Coach Ian Collins said. “BowlingGreen has knocked us out of the tournament four years in a row, and ourguys felt like we owed them one.”

With the win, UK improves to 6-3, while BG falls to 3-7, 0-1 in the MAC.

The Soccer Cats return to the pitch on Friday, Oct. 8, when they hostEastern Michigan in a 7:30 p.m. match at the UK Soccer Complex.
