LEXINGTON, Kty. — Senior sweeper Allison Peppers and freshman forward Keri Boyce werehonored by Soccer Buzz on Friday. Peppers was named third-team All-Americanand Boyce received honorable mention honors. Boyce was also namedfirst-team Freshman All-American by Soccer Buzz.

UK coach Warren Lipka was named the 1999 Great Lakes Region Coach of theYear by Soccer Buzz, while Peppers was named the Great Lakes RegionDefensive Player of the Year. The Cats finished with the best record inschool history at 16-3-2 and ranked 16th in the top 25.

Annie Gage and Boyce, along with Peppers, were named to Soccer Buzz’sGreat Lakes All-Region first team. Midfielder Jen Reese was a second-teamselection. The Cats’ three first-team selections tied national runner-upNotre Dame for the most players on the first team.

Peppers, who was named second-team All-American by the NSCAA last week, isa two-time All-Southeastern Conference performer and was the backbone ofUK’s defense that allowed just 22 goals this season. The West Chester, Ohionative was a four-year starter for the Cats and is second all-time inschool history for games started. Peppers was named honorable mentionAll-American by College Soccer Online on Wednesday.

Gage, a native of Westerville, Ohio, broke single-season records for goals(15), points (39), and shots (71). The sophomore forward was a first-teamAll-SEC selection after redshirting the 1998 season due to a torn ACL.

Boyce, was one of three freshmen named to the first-team, and was namedthe 1999 SEC Freshman of the Year. The Birdsboro, Pa., native was asecond-team All-SEC pick and was named the National Player of the Week bySoccer Times (Oct. 25-31).
