LEXINGTON, Kty. – The University of Kentucky gymnastics team will compete in its third meet of the season when the Kats head to Ann Arbor, Mich. on Friday, Jan. 28 to take on the third-ranked Michigan Wolverines in Cliff Keen Arena at 7 p.m.
The GymKats (1-1, 1-1 SEC) are coming off of a 193.425-192.875 win over conference rival Auburn. Senior Krissy Hoeferlin won the all-around with a 39.050 catapulting her into the No. 10 spot in the nation. Sophomore Jessie Lemp set a new career-high on the uneven bars to claim first place on the event with a 9.875 score.
Michigan (5-2, 2-0 Big Ten) is coming off of a 196.750-192.850 victory over intrastate rival Michigan State. Senior Sarah Cain, currently ranked sixth in the country, won the all-around competition with a final score of 39.500.
The GymKats are winless in six meets with the Wolverines. Last season, the Kats suffered their worst defeat at the hands of UM, 195.525-189.975.
The GymKats continue on the road next week when they face defending national champion Georgia in Athens on Friday, Feb. 4.
