LEXINGTON, Kty. – The University of Kentucky gymnastics team will play host to its first quad-meet of the season on Friday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum, when it takes on No. 7 Nebraska, Illinois and James Madison.

The GymKats (1-4, 1-2) are coming off of a third place finish with a score of 191.225 last weekend at Georgia. The defending national champion No. 3 Bulldogs won the meet with a final score of 196.675, while No. 11 Denver took second with its 194.575. Freshman Mindy Smith won the all-around with a score of 38.675 and led the team on beam with a 9.725 on balance beam and tied with senior Mila Chitwood for top team honors on floor with a 9.850.

This meet marks a homecoming for Nebraska Head Coach Dan Kendig. A UK graduate, the Fort Wright, Ky., native spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the GymKats, from 1979-80. Kendig is in his seventh season as head coach of the Huskers.
