LEXINGTON, Kty. – The 21st-ranked University of Kentucky women’s tennisteam came up short in its bid to upset the Lady Rebels of Ole Miss onSunday, falling 6-3 at the Hilary J. Boone Indoor Tennis Center.

Carolina Mayorga and Sarah Witten turned in impressive performances forthe Cats, both winning their singles matches and later combining to grabUK’s only doubles victory.

“Ole Miss is definitely one of the top 10 teams in the country. In thelong run, this loss will help us,” Coach Mark Guilbeau said. “I am reallyproud of the effort put forth by this team. We had a team meetingyesterday after the loss to South Carolina and the girls really took it toheart. They came out and played so much better today. I am extremely happywith the class they showed today.”

The Cats will hit the courts on Friday, March 3, when they will stop totake on Purdue before travelling to South Bend to match up against17th-ranked Notre Dame on Sunday, March 5.
