LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky softball team will play host to the 2000Kentucky Invitational, March 11-12, at the UK Softball Complex. Butler,Evansville, and Northern Illinois round out the four-team field.

The two teams with the top two records will square off in the championshipgame at 4 p.m., while the other two teams will play in the consolation gameat 2 p.m.

“We are excited to come back home and play on our own field after fourweekends on the road,” UK coach Beth Kirchner said. “Anytime you get toplay at home, it’s an advantage because of the familiarity the players havewith the field and facility. We need to come out and play like we arecapable of and gain some early momentum.”

UK (9-12) will open the tournament against Northern Illinois on Saturday,March 11 at 11a.m., followed by a game against Evansville at 1 p.m. OnSunday, March 12, the Cats will take on Butler at noon.

The Cats are coming off a two-game sweep against Morehead State. KearyCamunas and Jen Howland pitched back-to-back shutouts as UK claimed a 5-0victory and an 8-0 win in five-innings.
