LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky volleyball team will play at the Louisville Spring Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, April 8 at the Student Activities Center on the UL campus. Including the Cats, seven teams will be competing in play starting at 8:30 a.m. EDT with the last match scheduled for 4:45 p.m.
In addition to UK and the host Louisville, other team competing in the event are Cincinnati, Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State and Southeastern Confernce-foe Alabama. With the exception of Cincinnati and Morehead, UK played the other teams in the tournament field five times during the 1999 season, posting a 4-1 record. Their only loss came in the second contest with Louisville.
The teams will be playing an experimental scoring format that is being given a test run in play throughout the spring. In the new format, the first two games are rally scoring and go to 35 points with the winner having to win by two. The third game is then a six-point match tiebraker.
The Wildcats play `Bama at 8:30 and then Western at noon. After lunch, the Cats return to play Morehead at 1:00, Eastern at 2:15 and Louisville at 4:45.
