Per the University of Kentucky’s student-athlete alcohol policy, junior forward Jules Camara will remain indefinitely suspended from game action following his Oct. 10 conviction of driving under the influence.
“For Jules’ sake, we’re disappointed in yesterday’s verdict,” said Larry Ivy, UK’s director of athletics. “His attorney has announced his intentions to appeal the case and pending the outcome of that appeal, Jules will remain suspended. However, we are going to allow Jules to practice with the squad during his suspension.”
As stated previously by Ivy, Camara will remain on scholarship for the fall semester. He is currently undergoing alcohol counseling per the student-athlete policy.
“We’re going to support Jules through his situation,” Coach Tubby Smith said. “He’s been very remorseful since ‘Day One’ and very sorry that he’s put himself and the team through this ordeal. He’s done everything we’ve asked him to do. We hope the fans of Kentucky basketball will support him as he remains a Kentucky Wildcat.”
UK officials have no further comment on this matter.
