University of Kentucky women’s golfer Rachel Lester notched a career finish atthe Mercedes-Benz Women’s Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. this weekend whenshe tied for seventh place with an 8-over-par 224. The Lady Kats finished 14th as ateam, tallying a three-round total of 969.

Duke claimed the team title, shooting a weekend total of 890, just 26 strokes overpar. V. Nirapathpongporn of Duke claimed individual honors with her three round totalof 1-under-par 215. Host Tennessee had something to cheer about as Young-a Yangtook second place honors with a 1-over-par 217.

Other Kentucky golfers participating included sophomore Kelly Anders whonotched a total of 239 to tie for 43rd and junior Kristen Pepe, who finished in 74th witha total of 262. Rounding out the UK lineup was freshman Eva Gessner, whose total of272 landed her in 76th.

The Lady Kats are back in action Oct. 20-22, when the travel to Greenville, S.C. toparticipate in the Lady Paladin Invitational.
