New Offense Benefiting Batt & Weiskirhcer

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Kentucky volleyball team will look to pick up its first Southeastern Conference road win and in the process hand Alabama its third consecutive home loss when the teams meet Sunday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m., at Coleman Coliseum.

Both Kentucky and Alabama are coming off Friday night losses. Kentucky lost in five games at Auburn while the Tide was defeated at home by Tennessee 3-1.

The Cats have adjusted well to their new offense that was implemented last weekend. The players appear more confident with their role and the statistics are starting to show improvement.

UK (4-15, 2-6 SEC) continues to receive strong performances from Kristen Batt and Megan Weiskircher. Both players notched double-doubles against Auburn. Batt posted 23 kills and 11 digs while Weiskircher accumulated 20 kills and 13 digs. The double-doubles were both players’ second consecutive, and Batt’s second straight match with 20-plus kills.

Monica Morales and Michelle Green led the charge for Alabama (16-5, 5-3) in the loss to Tennessee. Morales tallied 20 kills and 21 digs and Green recorded 20 kills and 13 digs.

Kentucky holds a 15-2 series lead over Alabama and won last year’s meeting 3-2 at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington.
