The University of Kentucky track and field team begins the upcoming indoor season when it plays host to the annual Wildcat Speed Meet on Friday, Dec. 8, in the Nutter Field House on the UK campus.
The Cats will use this meet not only to gauge how they have been developing in practice but also to see the newcomers in their first indoor meet wearing the Blue and White. This group includes two national high school champions, one junior college national champion, 21 state champions, two state record holders and 37 high school record holders.
Competing will be athletes from Eastern Kentucky, Louisville, Georgia Tech and Morehead State. Field event action gets underway with the high jump at 2 p.m., while the running events begin at 4 p.m. with the 60-meter hurdles.
