Freshman Jeff Chakouian won his second straight shot put event to lead the University of Kentucky trackand field squads on the final day of the Rod McCravy Memorial on Saturday, Jan. 13, at UK.

Chakouian finished first in the shot with an NCAA provisional-qualifying throw of 61-10.50, four feet shortof his school record he established at the Wildcat Speed Meet in December 2000. However, the throw was morethan eight and a half feet farther than the second-place finisher and broke the McCravy Meet record of 59-03.00. Two other Cats also did well in the shot put as junior Scott Theis finished third with a heave of 52-04.50,and junior Bill Powers claimed fourth place with a 49-09.00 mark.

The women were led by sophomore Simidele Adeagbo’s first-place finishes in the long and triple jumps. Both marks by Adeagbo, 20-01.50 in the long jump and 41-05.75 in the triple jump, were personal bests andNCAA provisional qualifying marks.
