The 24th-ranked University of Kentucky women’s swimming and diving team (5-2) downed both Arkansas and South Carolina on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Arkansas Natatorium. Kentucky defeated Arkansas by a score of 85-55 and South Carolina, 91-47. The Wildcats are on a four-meet win streak.

The women started the meet fast by winning the 200 medley relay in the fastest time this season. Kelli Stein went up against Arkansas’ Natalia Kodajova, a 1996 Olympian, in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. Stein was victorious in both events, recording a provisional NCAA time in the 100 and narrowly missing the provisional cut in the 200. She also narrowly missed the school record in the 100. Stein has won the 200 breaststroke in every dual meet she has competed in this season.

Melissa Olson won three events, the 200 butterfly, 200 backstroke, and 200 individual medley. Jaime Siegele recorded wins in the 50 and 100 freestyles.

Divers Kelli Frost and Sarah Fields packed a one-two punch as they finished first and second, respectively on the one-meter, while Carrie Knober placed fourth in the event. Knoeber added a second-place finish in the three-meter.

The women will re-team with the men’s team to face Cincinnati on Friday, Jan. 26, at 6 p.m. at Cincinnati’s Laurence Pool to end Kentucky’s four-meet road tilt.
