University of Kentucky womens golf sophomore KellyAnders shot a one-under-par 71 in the second round ofthe Bryan National Collegiate Golf Tournament onSaturday, April 7, to tie her for 13th place. JuniorTowa Okiyama is close behind Anders in 15th placeafter shooting a one-over-par 73 in the tournamentssecond day of play at the Bryan Park Champions GolfCourse in Greensboro, N.C.
The Lady Kats fell to eighth place after matchingtheir first round score of 306 in the second round tototal 612. Tennessee and Memphis both had impressivedays on the course to push past Kentucky. The Kats arefive strokes behind seventh-place Purdue.
Duke continues to lead all teams in the three-daytournament after bettering its first-round score witha second-round tally of 288, bringing its total to577. The Blue Devils have two individuals tied for topindividual honors after the second day. CandyHannemann and V. Nirapathpongporn each shot a 69 onSaturday to bring their totals to 141.
Also competing for Kentucky is sophomore RachelLester, whose 157 total places her tied for 46th,while senior Jenny Throgmorton struggled in Saturdaysround, posting an 82 to drop her to 51st place with atotal of 158. Junior Kristen Pepes 166 places her in78th place and wraps up UKs lineup.
The Lady Kats conclude competition in the 17-teamtournament on Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
