UK WOMEN’S SOCCER ASCENDS IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team climbed nine spots this week in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Coaches Poll, moving from 24th to 15th nationally. The Wildcats also ascended eight spots in the weekly Soccerbuzz.com Poll, going from No. 23 to No. 15.
Off to its best start in the program’s 10-year history at 4-0-0 (1-0-0 Southeastern Conference), Kentucky ranks first in the SEC Eastern Division and earned its rankings from a 2-1 victory at Michigan on Friday, Sept. 7 and a 6-0 shutout at Michigan State on Sunday, Sept. 9.
The Wildcats will not compete this weekend at the Loyola Marymount Fila Cup Challenge in Los Angeles, Calif. UK, in accordance with the Southeastern Conference, has postponed all athletic events and will evaluate all future schedules at an appropriate time.
