GREENVILLE, S.C. – University of Kentucky cross country runners Caity Phillips and Thomas Morgan each finished in toward the top of their races at the Furman/Pre-NCAA Invitational in Greenville, S.C., on Saturday.
Phillips, a sophomore, finished in 62nd place out of a total of 246 runners with a time of 22:20.00. Other women racing for the Wildcats included Valerie Gefert, Beth Heimann, April Eaves, Jennifer Sauer and Karen Wartgow.
Morgan, also a junior, finished with a time of 25:15.00 in the 8k race, placing him 39th out of 242 runners. Also competing for UK in the race were Jack Morgan and Patton Segraves.
The Wildcats return to action on Monday, Oct. 29, when they travel to Auburn, Ala., to compete in the 2001 Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championships.
