The University of Kentucky volleyball team will travel to Columbia, S.C., Sunday, Oct. 21 for a 2 p.m. rematch with the 22nd-ranked Gamecocks. USC defeated UK, 3-1, on Oct. 5 in Lexington.

The Wildcats are coming off a strong win over Butler on Thursday, which saw three UK players tally double-doubles. Senior April Barnhorst ended the battle just one block shy of her first career triple-double, finishing with 12 kills, 10 digs and nine blocks.

UK seemed to gel around its new lineup, which includes sophomore setter Kristi Kelley. Kelley entered the lineup on Oct. 12 against Alabama after senior Whitney Sample broke her pinky finger in practice the night before. Kelley recorded a career-high 64 assists against Butler while adding four kills, also a personal best.

Kentucky looks to even its Southeastern Conference record in Columbia this weekend. The Cats are currently in a three-way tie for third place in the East. South Carolina stands at second in the division with a 5-3 league record.

South Carolina has lost two of its last four matches since last playing UK and dropped three places in this week’s AVCA Top 25.

USC fell to Tennessee two days after its victory over the Wildcats, but rebounded with a big win at Clemson. Last weekend, the Gamecocks split its home matches with Arkansas and LSU, falling 3-1 to the Hogs before taking a 3-1 win over the Tigers. The Gamecocks will faceTennessee again on Friday before the Cats come to town Sunday.

Junior Cally Plummer continues to lead the USC attack and has posted double digit kills in 13 of South Carolina’s 15 matches this season. She recorded a school record eight service aces in USC’s win over Clemson.
