The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team placed nine student-athletes on the Mid-American Conference Honor Roll, the league announced.
UK placed one more athlete than last year on this season’s list, with four repeats from 2000. Only Northern Illinois, with 10, had more selections to the Honor Roll than Kentucky’s nine. Ilkka Jantti, Chris McAlpine, Jay Riney and Marc Theriault repeated their selections from last season, while Eddie Davis, Chris Austin, Antti Peltonen, Craig Pykett and Randy Strobo were honored for the first time.
“This is a great testament to the hard work these players put in off the field,” Coach Ian Collins said. “It validates our philosophy that athletes must also put in the work in the classroom.”
Student-athletes must obtain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 or higher to be eligible for the MAC Honor Roll.
