Sea Island, Ga. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team fell to 11th-place on Saturday, April 20 at the 2002 Southeastern Conference Championships in Sea Island, Ga. The Wildcats slipped to 11thplace after firing a second-round 303.
Freshman John Holmes stands in a tie for 20th place with a two-round total of 147. Senior John-Gordon Beckett’s 149, senior Philip Schardein’s 151, junior Andy Dustman’s 152 and junior Ryan Coyne’s 166 round out the Cats’ scores.
Auburn has the distinction of leading the team competition and having an individual in first-place after the second day of competition. The Tigers lead second-place LSU and Florida by 11 strokes, while Auburn golfer Jay Mundy leads the rest of the medallist contingent by only a stroke.
The final round of the SEC Championships will be played on Sunday, April 21. Action is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m.
