LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky track and field teams will open action in the 2002 Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., on Thursday, April 25. The meet, which runs through Saturday, is one of two high-profile track events this weekend, joining the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. This marks UK’s last weekend of action before the Southeastern Conference Championships in Starkville, Miss., May 9-12.

Among the members of the team traveling to Philadelphia this weekend is Jeff Chakouian, who earned All-America honors in the shot put last season. Junior Janet Crawford looks to build on an exciting performance at last week’s Mt. SAC Relays where she set a new personal best in the high jump with a leap of 5-10.00.

Another group of Wildcat athletes will travel to Louisville, Ky., on Saturday, April 27 for the Cardinal Open. Accomplished freshmen field event athletes Nicole Allyn and Gennessa Guzman are among the group traveling to the meet.
