ATLANTA – University of Kentucky track and field sophomore Jeff Chakouian took second place in the men’s shot put at the Georgia Tech Last Chance Meet on Friday, May 17, in Atlanta, Ga. His throw of 63-00.00 was his fourth automatic qualifying throw for the NCAA Championships, May 29-June 1, in Baton Rouge, La.

Chakouian finished second to defending NCAA champ, Reese Hoffa, who graduated from Georgia last year. Hoffa, who competed unattached in the meet, had a toss of 65-09.50 to win the title. Also competing for the Wildcats were Jack Morgan and Justin Amason, who finished 10th and 16th, respectively, in the men’s 1500 meters. Morgan posted a time of 3:48.60 in the event, while Amason was close behind with a time of 3:50.58.

The Wildcats return to action on Saturday when the open competition at the George C. Griffin Track with the women’s hammer throw at 2:30 p.m. Results are available immediately at www.deltatiming.com.
