The University of Kentucky women’s golf team finished action in the Mercedes-Benz Women’s Championships on Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Gettysvue Polo, Golf and Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. The Lady Kats took an 11th-place finish in the 15-team field with a three-round total of 937. Southeastern Conference opponent Auburn University took the title with an 899, while host Tennessee finished two strokes ahead of Kentucky in 10th-place.

Four Kats finished in the top-50 with senior Rachel Lester leading UK with a 932 and a tie for 26th-place after a one-over-par 73 in the second round. Sophomore Stacy Springer tied for 32nd only two strokes behind Lester with a three-round total of 234. Junior Eva Gessner followed with a 235 in 37th-place and senior Kelly Anders shot a third round three-over-par 75 to finish in 45th. Freshman Ali Kicklighter made her Lady Kat debut with a total score of 249.

Kentucky will take a break from action before returning to the course on Nov. 4-5 in the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C.
