Kentucky (9-12, 3-7 SEC) is looking for a big win to open November, as just three weeks remain before the conference tournament. The top-eight teams in the league qualify to the tourney, and Kentucky sits at eighth in this week’s standings. A date with Ole Miss, the SEC’s No. 9 team, looms on Sunday’s Senior Day in Lexington.
“This is a critical match for both programs,” Coach Jona Braden said. “From our perspective, we’re coming off a very competitive weekend and we want to continue to compete at that level. We’re facing a team that also had a strong weekend in terms of its growth. I think when we step on the floor tomorrow, both teams will know how critical this match is.”
UK holds a 26-1 advantage in the series with the Bulldogs, which dates back to the 1980 season. MSU’s lone win came on Oct. 16, 1994, a 3-2 decision in Starkville. UK took the 3-0 victory in Starkville in 2001, its first sweep since 1995.
