Louisville at Kentucky Moved to Aug. 31, Televised by espn2: The Louisville at Kentucky battle for the Governor’s Cup has been moved to Sun. Aug. 31 and will be televised by espn2 at 6:30 p.m. EDT.

This is the second consecutive season that the intrastate rivalry has been moved to Sunday night and televised by espn2. This year’s game marks the 10th meeting of the teams since the renewal of the rivalry in 1994 and will be the fifth time that the contest has been selected for live national or regional television.

Abney to be Honored by Touchdown Club of Atlanta: Wide receiver/kick returner Derek Abney will be honored by the Touchdown Club of Atlanta on Saturday night at the club’s annual banquet. Abney will receive the SEC Special Teams Player of the Year recognition.

Abney returned six kicks for touchdowns in 2002 and broke or tied five NCAA records, nine Southeastern Conference records and 10 school records for kick returns. He averaged 15.1 yards per punt return, including four touchdowns (at Florida, at Arkansas, two at Mississippi State). He averaged 26.8 yards on kickoff returns with touchdowns at Florida and vs. Vanderbilt. He became only the seventh player in NCAA history to return a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown in the same game when he did it against Florida in “The Swamp.” He is the only player who ranks in the nation’s top 11 in punt returns, kickoff returns, and all-purpose yardage.

Abney also is a quality wide receiver. He caught 40 passes for 569 yards and four touchdowns this season and ranks third in school history in pass receptions and pass receiving yardage.

Abney has been named first-team All-America by The Associated Press, the Football Writers Association of America, The Sporting News, the Walter Camp Football Foundation, ESPN.com, CBSSportsLine.com, CNNSI.com, and CollegeFootballNews.com. He is the SEC Special Teams Player of the Year by The Southeastern Post, the Birmingham Monday Morning Quarterback Club, and the Touchdown Club of Atlanta.
