The UK men’s tennis team took a 6-1 beating from the second-ranked Florida Gators Friday in Gainesville, Fla. The Cats drop to 10-6 overall and 2-1 in the SEC.
Sophomore Jesse Witten tallied Kentucky’s lone point of the day with a victory at No. 1 singles. After dropping the first set, Witten rallied to take the final two sets in defeating 35th-ranked Hamid Mirzadeh, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2.
The Wildcats will return to action this Sunday when they take on No. 14 South Carolina. The match will begin at 1 p.m. at the Boone Tennis Complex on the UK campus.
