TUCSON, Ariz. – The Kentucky women’s soccer team (2-3-1) looks to get back on track Friday when the Cats take on Arizona (2-3) at U of A’s Murphey Soccer Stadium in Tucson. Game time is set for 10 p.m. EDT. The match marks Kentucky’s first trip to Arizona in the 12-year history of the program.
UK comes into Tucson in a bit of a lull after dropping three of its last four matches. The Cats’ last victory came on Labor Day when Kentucky cruised to a 4-1 win over Western Kentucky in Lexington. After entering the NSCAA poll at No. 14 last week, the Cats fell out of the rankings this week after home losses last weekend against BYU and Rutgers.
Leading Kentucky into Tucson is senior Elizabeth Ramsey, a two-time All-SEC forward from Hilliard, Ohio. Ramsey has produced nine points in six matches this season. Junior Jessica Laswell has been a pleasant surprise for Kentucky, tallying seven points in 2003 after going pointless in two matches in 2002.
Arizona enters the match coming off of a 2-1 win at Northern Arizona on Sept. 14. Candice Wilks leads U of A with four goals in the Cats’ five matches.
Kentucky wraps up its road trip Sunday with a 2 p.m. EDT match at Arizona State.
