NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Kentucky men’s golf team currently sits in eighth place after one round of play at the Mason Rudolph Championships in Nashville, Tenn. The tournament was originally scheduled for two rounds on Monday and one on Tuesday, but heavy rain led officials to cancel the second round and reduce the tournament to two rounds total.
The Cats shot a team total 292 first round highlighted by junior All-American John Holmes who currently sits tied for third place with a 69 round one.
The University of Alabama-Birmingham jumped out to a commanding first round team total 273 lead, which is 15 strokes lower than the second place team, South Carolina-Aiken. Garrett Osborn (66) and Chris Cousins (67), both of UAB, are currently in first and second place, respectively ahead of Holmes.
UK will attempt to overcome a four-stroke deficit to South Carolina-Aiken in the second and final round that will take place tomorrow weather permitting.
